triumph cruise ship are making approach and could make landfall this hour. the cruise ship went dark on sunday after a fire broke out in the engine room leaving 4,000 passengers on board stranded and without any power. now, the conditions on the ship have been haroing to say the least with the passengers reporting toilets are overflowing and food is scarce and sewage is everywhere. and joining us jonathan serrie, jonathan. >> reporter: sean, the excitement is building among the family and friends gathered here waiting for this ship to come in. latest estimates coming in between 9:30 and half past midnight central time. a lot of wild cards because this is a ship that's running on limited power. we understand that the winchs aren't working and the docking is going to take time and disemba

disembarkation. one functioning elevator and most the passengers are going to have to carry their own luggage down several flights of stairs, more than 3000 passengers on board that vessel plus additional 1,000 plus crew members. so, a very lengthy and cumbersome process getting everyone off the ship and even, once everyone is off the ship and on terra firma, most of these passengers are going to be boarding tour buses, taking them either to their home ports in texas or for those who don't want to make the eight-hour plus drive overnight have the option of boarding a bus for a two hour drive to new orleans where they'll overnight and catch charter flights to their home destinations on friday. so, this homecoming process expected to be very lengthy going well into friday. at the very least, sean? >> let me ask you a quick question if i can. it's being towed in,

obviously, so, docking it, how difficult the problem is that going to be? that's a pretty big ship to pull in. >> it is a big ship to pull in. and it doesn't have a lot of its own power, so the docking process expected to take longer, and the towing process has been cumbersome. earlier this afternoon, one of the tug boats reported a tow line had broken. and they ended up replacing the line, but it delayed the process by about an hour before the ship got underway once again. so, it has been a very complex and cumbersome process getting the ship back to shore, john. >> and joining us on the phone is brenda, trapped on the cruise ship with 30 members of her family. sorry what you're going through. can you describe the conditions on the ship and how is everybody reacting?

>> yeah, everybody for the conditions that we are in, everybody is in good spirits. we've had food and water every day, so, that's been a blessing. the only bad experience that we've had is w bathroom situation, but you know, they clean it as much as they can. >> how bad. i understand that sewage has been sort of, as i understand only about four working toilets on the ship. so, is it-- i read one report they were asking people to go to the bathroom in a bag and sewage was running up and down and through the ship. is that true? >> yes, it is. i believe there's about four bathrooms working with several stalls in them, but for a few hours, for a lot of hours, actually, several days there we didn't have working toilets so we had to go in red biohazard bags. >> sean: you said there's plenty of food and water there. i understand that there's also been some issues involving people online getting food and then people the back of the

line are upset if people were taking a lot of food. is that true? >> yes, well, you know, people like us with big parties, we would get in line and get food for several people and not just us. can you imagine if all 30 of us were in line at the same time and everybody was in big groups were in line and some people didn't understand you were taking food for more than one person not just for yourself. >> sean: i understand now. a party of 30, that's a pretty big party for a cruiseship. >> yes. >> sean: and is this one of the weddings, it was a wedding on board? >> no, we are here for my mother-in-law's birthday you celebration. >> sean: yeah. and is anybody that you know sick on the boat, anybody that's not feeling well? anybody, is there any panic or stress that you see that people are having stressful situation there? >> well, my aunt was the one that got taken out of the boat on monday for dialysis, that was my aunt. but other than her, everybody

that i know of is okay. >> sean: okay, and you feel pretty confident you'll get into shore tonight and are you happy with how the thousand-member staff has handled the situation and knowing how difficult it is? >> oh, yeah, the crew has been amazing. they've had a smile on their faces as they're cleaning the bathrooms for us, that's amazing. >> sean: all right. well, free drinks for everybody and we wish everybody gets to shore safely. thank you, brenda, we wish you safe docking coming up perhaps in this hour. thank you. >> thank you so much. >> sean: joining me now to explain what health risks the passenger may be facing aboard is our friend dr. marc siegel. how are you. >> how are you. >> sean: sewage, dysentery? >> that's number one on the list, and amazing what the crew has been able to do, if that hasn't happen and brenda sounds like it hasn't happen and you get it on your hands and dehydrated, heat around there and smoke in the cabins. you have risk of smoke inhalation. the stress, i'm glad to hear

her say that people kept their spirits up. you're he at sea for seven days, don't know when you're supposed to be brought in, supposed to be three days and people with underlying health problems and a person taken off for dialysis, her aunt, she said. and running out of medicine, high blood pressure. >> sean: assume people if they have medical conditions due to be on the boat for x number of days they probably were prepared. don't the ships have doctors and nurses and provisions and some pharmaceutical help. >> a full-time physician usually on the ship and nurses and i bet they were working overnight, all through the night to make sure that people didn't get sick, emergency provisions, if they'd been at sea much longer than this that might have been a problem. i'm definitely concerned about there having been a risk for dehydration. >> sean: my biggest concern, i'm not a big boat person and been on boats with friends and tried to dock a boat once or twice in little spaces and not

easy to do that. are you a big boater. >> i have my own boat and that's a tiny boat, i can only imagine going through there. >> sean: the thought of that would scare the living day lights. >> and people have to keep calm in the circumstance, and that's when injuries occur when people panic. >> sean: the difficult part is coming up, getting this thing docked and off that ship safely. and then i guess the medical assistance will be there when they're on land. stay there with us, also joining us live on the phone, from the of powerless cruise ship is robert, foley who got married last weekend. i guess this is your honeymoon, rob? >> i'm sorry, i couldn't hear you. >> sean: rob, this is your honeymoon? >> yes, i got married on friday. >> sean: well, congratulations. and did you get married on the ship? >> yes, i did. >> sean: well, i hope this is not an indication of maybe some rough waters ahead in your marriage. i don't mean-- >> how are you. >> i doubt it. >> sean: how are you holding up and everybody else holding up? >> i'm doing fine.

most everybody is in good spirits. there's really, the crew has done a great job. i mean, it's an unfortunate situation that he we all got into and i think that everybody has pretty much made the best of it. >> sean: and how about the sanitary conditions, that seems to be the doctor's number one concern. >> it was bad for 48 hours inform the power went out, only a matter of hours before they he started asking us to use a biohazard bag for to urinate in the shower and use the biohazard for anything else. and that built up pretty quickly in the hallways and you can imagine the smell and not to mention overflowing and things like that. >> how were you able to keep your hand clean using those kinds of condition. >> luckily, they have sanitary stations, sanitizer stations all over the ship, so, i pretty much--

chuck hagel's nomination, that was earlier today. delayed the vote until late february. now republicans say it's premature to close the debate over the nominee and say that before any confirmation vote will take place, they want answers from hagel and the white house about what exactly president obama was doing the night of the benghazi terror attack that killed a u.s. ambassador and three other americans. the first time a filibuster of a cabinet nominee has been used and needless to say this marks a major win for the g.o.p., and a pretty embarrassing defeat for the president. and joining me now with reaction from the american center for law and justice, jay sekulow and analyst juan williams, i don't always agree with leon panetta and i respect him and he said about the see skwquestration cuts, it going to hollow our military and devastate the military, and he chuck hagel says the budget is bloated. and missile defense, wants to disarm america of nukes and

>> and this is a fox news alirt. we are awaiting a press conference on the stranded carnival cruise ship. as soon as we get it. we'll bring you there live and still we continue with jay sekulow and juan williams. jay, you're making the point that he doesn't deserve this position, meaning chuck hagel. i think the republicans did the right thing today. i thought that was a disastrous hearing for him. give the specifics why. >> when you look at his position on the middle east and israel. he actually made a statement in a speech that he gave and in answer to a question, that if israel was attacked would the united states going to defend, he started talking about what a disaster that would be for world politics. he has this view of iran where, look, the president says he wants strict and severe sanctions. chuck hagel wants no sanctions. chuck hagel on israel was one of-- i think one of three senators that refused to condemn

actions of anti-semitism that were coming out of the middle east. i look at the merits. his performance was awful before the senate committee. he certainly did nothing to help himself. look at his policies. i mean, remember the question on containment. he talked about iranian containment of nuclear, he says we have no position on containment when actually the president said he wasn't in favor of containment and carl levin coming in-- >> gentlemen. >> i'll speak as loud as i can. we're here to give you a brief update on the status of the carnival triumph and arrival back in the port of mobile. the ship is approximately five miles away at this point and still about 6 knots of speed. our current estimates are that the ship will be alongside at the cruise terminal between 9:30 and 10:30 tonight. 9:30 and 10:30 tonight. as i talked about before for those who were here before, once the ship arrives, the debarcation process will start

shortly after that 9:30 to 10:30 window and expect because of the lack of power of the ship, the debarcation could take four to five hours so we're still in at that time frame for completion of the debarcation. in the terminal, we have two of our teams fully deployed. we have our guest care teams and our guest logistics team ready to receive our guests and make all the arrangement and help them through the process. inside the terminal, there's also warm food available, there are blankets. there are cell phones. and refreshments available for the guests that need that and want that assistance. our biggest focus very honestly though is to move the people as quickly as possible on to the roughly 100 motor coaches that are awaiting their arrival and move them quickly, as we talked about, for the options earlier. on their way motor coach-wise

to galveston or to the hotels, what they've elected to do. our plan for friday is that the ship will move physically from the current cruise terminal to the repair facility here in mobile for us to begin the assessment of the repairs. we've had a lot of questions about our crew and what is going to happen with our crew. so beginning tonight after the last guest debarks, our hotel operations crew will have the option of either staying aboard the ship or being moved to a hotel. and continuing what's going to happen with that crew. the crew that the hotel crew that is very close to concluding their contract with us will actually go on vacation early, but carnival will make them completely whole in the compensation for the whole contract. for the crew that has recently joined the ship on contract, we'll be transferring them to other carnival ships over the

coming days. deck and engine crew will remain with the vessel and they will help us tomorrow move the ship to the repair facility and then they will then also have the opportunity to be in a hotel and will probably stay with the ship for a period of time as we complete and assess the repairs. that's all the information we have tonight and we appreciate your time and interest. >> can i ask you, what-- >> that was terry thornton, the senior vice-president of the carnival cruise line and the ship lost power and disabled, and being towed back to mobile, alabama and they expect that it will arrive within the next hour or so. when that happens, this is the more difficult part of the operation as they try to dock the ship, disembark people and

lows to target florida senator marco rubio. it all started during the senator's response to the president's state of the union address on tuesday when rubio, wait for it, he dared to take a single sip of water. because there was no substantive issue to criticize, the liberal left went viral and rubio's quote drinking problem as one called it it, now called water-gate and wolf blitzer, very funny. i can't imagine that rubio is the only lawmaker to take a sip of water during a speech. he's not. watch on the screen and we plan to highlight well, some democratic drinking habits and problems. joining me now with reaction syndicated columnist, author, pat buchanan, hey, pat. >> how are you doing, sean. >> sean: doing good. taking a nice drink of water. look, you know, i thought that rubio gave the single best response to a state of the union that i've seen and a

really terrific speech. handled it well and it's a different audience coming out of the state of the union. and they can't criticize the substance so they go after taking a sip of water. how stupid is this? >> well, i think that wolf blitzer ought to look at his own longevity at cnn with jeff zucker coming in. >> cross fire any day now. >> marco rubio has done a fine speech and it's gone viral. 1 1.3 military results and this doesn't compare with bill clinton when he introduced michael dukakis for 45 minutes and barack obama has had his own problems, that first debate he got wiped out. this is a little glitch and the first outing of a candidate who's not going to be running, if he does run, for about three years, it doesn't mean a hill of beans, it will be done with and wait for all of these folks to stop talking about it.
